Charville Primary School - Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium Policy
At Charville, we are ‘Striving for excellence in the community where everyone matters’. We have high standards for our children and pride ourselves on the quality of our learning and teaching in order to raise standards.

At Charville Pupil Premium funding is used to provide additional support to improve the progress and to raise the standards of achievement and narrow the gap between these children and their peers.

Pupil Premium funding represents a proportion of our budget and this policy outlines how we will ensure it is spent to maximum effect.
Pupil Premium Spending
Pupil Premium spending has been used to provide a range of additional support based on identified needs for our children and these interventions have had an impact on children’s attainment as well as their experiences.

Our key objective in using the Pupil Premium Grant is to narrow the gap between pupil groups. As a school we ensure that pupils make good progress, and are using the additional funding to ensure that FSM pupils achieve in line with or above their peers.

Through targeted interventions we are working to eliminate barriers to learning and progress. Many children start school with low attainment on entry and our aim is to ensure that they make accelerated progress in order to reach age related expectations as they move through the school.

A number of strategies are being used to impact on the achievement of pupils at Charville including:
  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Phonics Support
  • Numbers Count
  • Reading Recovery
  • Small Group and 1:1 Tuition
  • Clubs
  • Trips, Workshops and Events
  • Family Support Worker
Full details of planned and agreed Pupil Premium expenditure for the school year 2015 – 2016 is available here including the costs and intended impacts of these interventions.

The proposed and agreed expenditure for the 2015 – 2016 year has been based on the evaluations of successful interventions from the previous years to ensure that the funding is used effectively to support the achievement and experiences of our Pupil Premium children.
