Religious Education
Intent for Religious Education:
At Charville Academy we believe Religious Education helps to develop an understanding of the way people live and makes the children think about how people choose to live. As a diverse community Religious Education within Charville reflects the area the children are growing up in, allowing them to develop mutual respect for all. The Religious Education curriculum allows children to develop skills and values allowing them to express their faith and show tolerance towards others. Through enquiry children are encouraged to be reflective and both ask and answer questions. Children can also develop a sense of identity by learning both about and importantly from the religion. In addition, through knowledge and understanding gained within Religious Education children develop a broader cultural capital, allowing them to understand the background to historical events surrounding religion amongst other areas. The Religious Education curriculum also enables children to develop knowledge and skills which can and are used to promote their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. We aspire for the Religious Education curriculum to ignite in the children a curiosity of the people around them and the wider world. These skills can be carried with them for the rest of their lives, equipping them with knowledge and understanding of a range of religious and world views.
