Year 1 - Hillingdon Locomotive Society

Year 1 had a wonderful day at the Hillingdon Locomotive Society on Thursday, 9th May 2024.

Our bus trip both to and from the Hillingdon Locomotive Society went well, and the children were well-behaved on the bus. They talked to each other and looked at the landmarks they recognised to say where they lived.

The adults who organise these visits are very knowledgeable about steam locomotives and trains. They let the children look at locomotives they have built and gave them some information on how the locomotive works and what staff are needed to run them. They had a walk around the grounds to find out about different signals. To the children's delight, they were able to ride on the trains twice. The smiles on their faces were so pleasing to see. They listened carefully to the instructions and when we went through the tunnel, they were especially excited.  Along the route they took note of the signals and knew when it was safe to go through the tunnel.

The weather was kind to us and the children enjoyed themselves tremendously.  It was a day to remember.
