Inclusion and SEND
EAL provision
At Charville we value the diverse setting of the school, where many ethnicities and a broad range of languages provide a rich cultural experience for the school community. We encourage children with EAL (English as an Additional Language) to develop English alongside their heritage languages spoken at home. Children are provided with opportunities to share their backgrounds and language experiences with their peers on a regular basis. We assess the individual needs of pupils with EAL and provide the appropriate academic and social provision to allow them to achieve their potential, using a range of strategies to support these pupils.
SEND provision
A number of children experience some form of learning barrier during their school life. Children may have a variety of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and we are committed to a programme of early identification. Once needs are identified support is put in place. They may be taught individually, in small groups or supported within the whole class. We also seek advice from a number of specialists to support the child and the school. We firmly believe that every child should have the opportunity to develop their potential and will make every effort to provide appropriate support for individuals.
