Voice of The Students

We actively promote the children of Charville being involved in school life as much as possible and value their views and input. At Charville, our pupils have opportunities to represent their fellow pupils and our school in a variety of ways.

House Captains

These are members of Year 6, and they are selected in the Summer term of Year 5 through a democratic election process and are then involved in key events throughout the year, such as fund-raising events including the MacMillan Coffee Morning and Children in Need; they also support with Sports Day and showing visitors around the school.

School Council

Our School Councillors are the voice of our pupils. Their roles are very important to ensure our pupils can express their thoughts and views within the ethos of their wider school. They are role models for their fellow peers, and will always demonstrate the values of the school. Their roles benefit the whole school, allowing opportunities for pupils to communicate in the most direct way.

During the meetings, they have a clear agenda about school issues and the minutes are then issued to all members of staff who are invited to respond to their ideas and comments.

Each Councillor is responsible for expressing not just their own views but the views of all the other pupils they represent. Councillors will have regular meetings with identified staff for open discussions.

Climate Champions

Our Climate Champions serve as the powerful voice of our student body in advocating for sustainability and environmental stewardship within the school community.  The Climate Champions are children elected from each class aiming to make the school more environmentally friendly, considering recycling, travelling to school, and reducing our carbon footprint. As role models, they play a vital role in inspiring their peers to embrace greener practices and adopt an eco-conscious way of life.

Through their unwavering commitment actions, the Climate Champions drive meaningful change, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. Their efforts to promote energy conservation, waste reduction, and recycling initiatives have a far-reaching impact, contributing to the creation of a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable learning environment. By actively engaging in regular meetings, the Climate Champions collaborate to develop clear agendas and strategies for tackling  environmental issues such as water conservation, energy efficiency, and limiting waste.

As ambassadors of change, each Climate champion shares the responsibility of not only improving the school's environment but also developing the knowledge and skills of their class. This ensures that the message of sustainability resonates throughout the student body, empowering every individual to become an active participant in the school's green initiatives.
